Vows

Wedding Vows - Example 1

Lise and Nigel Mackenzie Wedding

Lise and Nigel would like to welcome you to this celebration of their love for one another.

Each of you has given something special to their lives. Thank you for sharing one of life’s happiest moments with them.

May you be an important part of their tomorrow, as you are of their today. Lise and Nigel, you realize that marriage goes beyond an officiant’s authority or any document we will put our signatures on today.

The bond of marriage will be defined by your commitment to love each other,
to work with all of your hearts, towards creating an atmosphere of care and respect.

And by your willingness to face together the fears, and uncertainty that life will bring.

Your love for one another and your willingness to accept each others strengths and frailties with understanding and consideration will cement the foundation for a life together.

Poem:
Wilferd Arlan Peterson

Happiness in marriage is not something that just happens.

A good marriage must be created. In marriage the little things are the big things.

It is never being too old to hold hands. It is remembering to say "I love you" at least once a day.

It is never going to sleep angry. It is at no time taking the other for granted;

the courtship should not end with the honeymoon, it should continue through the years.

It is having a mutual sense of values and common objectives. It is standing together facing the world.

It is forming a circle of love that gathers the whole family. It is doing things for each other, not in the attitude of duty or sacrifice,
but in the spirit of joy.

It is speaking words of appreciation and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways.

It is not looking for perfection in each other. It is cultivating flexibility, patience, understanding and a sense of humor.

It is having the capacity to forgive and forget. It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow old.

It is a common search for the good and the beautiful. It is establishing a relationship in which the independence is equal,
dependence is mutual and the obligation is reciprocal.

It is not only marrying the right partner, it is being the right partner.

(Groom and then bride repeat these vows after the Officiate)

Nigel, please repeat after me.

I take you to be my Wife. To have and to hold from this day forward.

I give you my unending love and devotion. I promise to be true to you, to cherish you,

and to share my thoughts, hopes, and dreams with you. I look forward to spending my life with you

My best friend. I will love you forever.

Lise, please repeat after me.

I take you to be my Husband.
To have and to hold from this day forward.

I give you my unending love and devotion. I promise to be true to you, to cherish you,

and to share my thoughts, hopes, and dreams with you. I look forward to spending my life with you

My best friend. I will love you forever.

Explanation of Rings

The wedding ring serves as a symbol of the promise you have just spoken. It is the outward and visible sign of an inward and invisible love, which binds your hearts together.

The ring represents a circle unbroken because the ring has no beginning or end, It signifies the continuation of true love.

Wear them as a sign of the love that exists between you.

May I have the rings…..

Nigel take the ring put it on Lisess ring finger and repeat after me.

I give you this ring to remind you how precious your love is to me, and of my promise to love you forever.

Lise take the ring put it on Nigels ring finger and repeat after me.

I give you this ring to remind you how precious your love is to me, and of my promise to love you forever.

Lise and Nigel, you have consented together and have witnessed the same before this company On Today March 16, 2008

so before you kiss one another and seal your bond of love, there is the breaking of the glass…..

The custom of breaking the glass is derived from the Talmud. While there are many other interpretations of this practice, I like to believe that when you break the glass and shatter in into many pieces, that is how many years you’ll be together.
So, Nigel give it your best shot and I want to hear a loud,”Mazeltov” from the audience!

By the authority vested in me, and the state of Florida.. I pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the Bride……

It is my pleasure to introduce to you Mr. And Mrs. Nigel Mackenzie
