Vows

Wedding Vows - Example 2

Lise and Nigels Wedding

We are gathered here this morning to witness the union in marriage of Lize Mireille Melinda Gilly and Nigel Groves Mackenzie.

This wedding arch is a symbol of the bridal canopy to remind us of the centrality of the home and hearth in the life of a couple.

The home becomes the receptacle of the love and respect you have for each other and your desire to safeguard it in the face of all others – be it family or friends – whom you continue to love as well.

The love and allegiance you pledge to each other today reflect this commitment.

Lise and Nigel, you realize that marriage goes beyond an officiant’s authority or any document we will put our signatures on today.

The bond of marriage will be defined by your commitment to love each other,
to work with all of your hearts towards creating an atmosphere of care and respect.

And by your willingness to face together the fears, and uncertainty that life will bring. Your love for one another and your willingness to accept each others strengths and frailties with understanding and consideration will cement the foundation for a life together that will last.

Nigel, please repeat after me.

I take you to be my Wife. To have and to hold from this day forward.

I give you my unending love and devotion. I promise to be true to you, to cherish you,

and to share my thoughts, hopes, and dreams with you. I look forward to spending my life with you

my best friend. I will love you forever.

Lise, please repeat after me.

I take you to be my Husband. To have and to hold from this day forward.

I give you my unending love and devotion. I promise to be true to you, to cherish you,

and to share my thoughts, hopes, and dreams with you. I look forward to spending my life with you

my best friend. I will love you forever.

Explanation of Rings

The wedding ring serves as a symbol of the promise you have just spoken. It is the outward and visible sign of an inward and invisible love, which binds your hearts together.

Wear them as a sign of the love that exists between you. The love, which now your hearts enfold and your words express.

May I have the rings…..

Nigel take the ring put it on Lise’s ring finger and repeat after me.

I give you this ring to remind you how precious your love is to me, and of my promise to love you forever.

Lise take the ring put it on Nigels ring finger and repeat after me.

I give you this ring to remind you how precious your love is to me, and of my promise to love you forever.

Lise and Nigel you have consented together and have witnessed the same before this company On Today March 16th, 2008 so before you kiss one another and seal your bond of love, there is the breaking of the glass…..

This will signify the end of the wedding ceremony. The custom of breaking a glass is derived from the Talmud. It is written that a rabbi broke a vase during a wedding feast in order to warn those present against excessive joy. A broken glass cannot be mended. Likewise, marriage is irrevocable. It is a transforming experience that leaves individuals forever changed. While there are many other interpretations of this practice, I like to believe that when you break the glass and shatter it into many pieces, that is how many years you will be together….

So Nigel step on and break the glass as it signals an end to the ceremony with shouts of “Mazel Tov!” or (Congratulations!)from everyone and the partying can begin….

So By the authority vested in me, and the state of Florida, I pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride…..
